Roman Villa Time Detectives

Here your class can become Roman Villa Time Detectives, discovering all about life in the Roman Period at the Bancroft Villa.

Summary

Let your class become history detectives and step back in time to the Roman Period at Bancroft Roman Villa.

Students will get to explore the site where the Bancroft Roman Villa was discovered, carrying out challenges to increase their understanding of the period, develop their inference skills and become more engaged with their local history. 

There is also the option to extend the trip and continue the adventure at Milton Keynes Museum to see and get hands-on with some real and replica Roman artefacts (including the famous mosaics found on site). 

Please note, this session is appropriate for Years 4-6 only. We are only able to run this session mid March-mid October. 

Option 1

Single session located at the Bancroft Roman Villa site and led by The Parks Trust's Outdoor Learning Team.

•    Up to 30 students.
•    Time: 9:30 - 11:15 (1hr 45min)
•    Price: £3 per student

Option 2

Double session located at the Bancroft Roman Villa site, led by Parks Trust staff (9:30 - 11:15am). Followed by toilet break, snack, double session and lunch at the Milton Keynes Museum, led by museum staff (11:15am - 2:30pm). Full itinerary available on request.

Price: £7 per student
The sessions at Milton Keynes Museum are hosted indoors. They include getting hands on with Roman artefacts, learning more about Roman lifestyles and art, with the option of a self-guided visit to the rest of the museum. Please contact us for more information about session contents.
