Head by Allen Jones (1990)

Made out of Corton steel that weathers over time to create a textured surface, Head is a simply constructed yet powerful sculpture intended to manipulate its viewers' minds using two-dimensional silhouettes, creating an illusion of a three-dimensional form. At first glance, the figure suggests a tent structure and initially seems to be an entirely abstract piece. As people walk past, the human head slowly reveals itself. The artist deliberately constructed it this way to encourage park users to stop and spend time exploring it.

Allen Jones is a British painter, sculptor and designer who has worked predominately in paint and printmaking he is well known for public artworks.  Often working in steel and focusing on the human form, their public art piece Aerobic located at Leamouth Road, Newham has similarities to Head with the weathered Corten steel, exploration of the human form and three-dimensional aspect.

Head is located near the canal towards Newlands at What3Words location earful.conquests.excellent.
