Gyosei Art Trail

Commissioned by Great Linford Parish Council with support from The Parks Trust, Public Art Trust MK, Canal & River Trust and MK Council, the Gyosei Art Trail was created for local residents to enjoy. Completed in 2016 the trail on the Canal Broadwalk in Milton Keynes consists of eight pieces in total each piece relates to the themes of Japanese connection, canal history, and natural history.

Pieces to see on the trail include Arachne Weaves by Linda Johns along the Canal Broadwalk, which takes inspiration from how a spider makes its web, and Ptolemy Elrington’s Dragonfly made from recovered materials. Jeremy Turner's Three Post Bench and Melanie Watt's stunning mosaic  Autumn Splendour depicting a barn owl in flight.

The trail is located on both sides of the Grand Union Canal bridge 79A from H3 Monks Way (Pennyland) to H5 Portway (Downhead Park) (Canal bridge 81A) and is accessible from the local redway network. The trail starts in the district of Pennyland and follows the canal down between Willen park and Downhead Park, where it finishes.

One piece by local artist Justin Tunley, is made of laser cut steel and represents the canal and the position of all the art pieces along the trail. You could start with exploring this piece and follow the canal to find the other seven pieces. War Veteran

Triple Star Head
