Life of Plants (KS1 & KS2)

Get to grips with the complicated lives of plants and trees by exploring topics including identification, reproduction and their global importance.

Life of Plants can be tailored for both Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2. During the session we will meet various plants, learn about their life cycles, and take part in lots of fun activities along the way!

Please note that some of the activities in this session are season and location dependent. We will cover all lesson aims regardless. 

How does this session link to the National Curriculum? (Key Stage 1 & 2)
  • Identify and name a variety of common wild and garden plants, including deciduous and evergreen trees.
  • Identify and describe the basic structure of a variety of common flowering plants, including trees.
  • Find out and describe how plants need water, light and a suitable temperature to grow and stay healthy.
  • Explore the part that flowers play in the life cycle of flowering plants, including pollination, seed formation and seed dispersal.
