About Lodge Lake

Created in 1981, Lodge Lake is one of the city's ‘on-line’ balancing lakes. A dam across the Loughton Brook holds back water as flow rates in the brook increase, helping to prevent flooding in downstream areas. The lake is perfect for a short outing; a gentle walk around the lake edge takes about 30 minutes - with plenty of interest on and off the water year-round. It's a great spot to enjoy rich and varied birdlife such as herons, swans, little grebes and even the occasional kingfisher.

Fitness Trail

The fitness trail at Lodge Lake is designed to be used by adults wishing to supplement their workout with strength and balance exercises.

The fitness trail features 6 stations: Pull Up Bars, Climbing A-Frame, Balance Beams, Rolling Log, Wobble Beam, and Ladder Climb.

The Rolling Log and the Wobble Beam stations feature equipment that moves when used. This provides a great way to challenge your balance and core strength, but please be aware of this movement before using the equipment.

This fitness trail was funded in part by Loughton and Great Holm Parish Council and is owned and maintained by The Parks Trust.

Fishing

Lodge Lake is very popular for its fishing. It is Milton Keynes Angling Association's longest-established carp fishery, and there are some huge fish to be caught here. One recent catch was a mirror carp weighing in at a whopping 22lb 8oz! MKAA members can fish for free during the open season while non-members need to purchase a day ticket from the roving bailiff.
