Walking Festival: Walk and Glide Cruise from Waterhall with Electra
Enjoy a guided walk and a glide on Milton Keynes' electric community boat.
MK Community Boat Electra Walk & Glide Cruises are a wonderful way to discover more of the hidden delights of Milton Keynes. You can explore more parkland and countryside because you walk one way and then relax on gentle cruise back to the starting point.
For the 2025 MK Walking Festival Electra Walk & Glide events are all based on new routes in the south of the city. Walks start from Dobbies in Fenny Stratford, Waterhall Park, or Soulbury Three Locks. Enjoy a guided walk followed by a tranquil glide back on all-electric MK Community Boat Electra.
The event on Friday 9 May at 1pm starts at Waterhall Park with a guided walk to Soulbury Three Locks (5 miles/3 hours). This guided walk for keen walkers goes via Great Brickhill and involves public footpaths, bridleways, roads and the canal towpath. It has an ascent/descent of some 270 feet. The 1.5 hour countryside cruise back takes you through a lock and past a working boatyard, arriving back at 5.30pm.
Electra is a 12-seater narrowboat, so places on each event are limited to 12 people. Places can be booked up to two hours before the start of each walk, but to be sure of a place it’s best to book early. Electra is run by volunteers to support the Bedford & Milton Keynes Waterway Trust, so there is a ticket charge.
Full information and online booking is on the Electra website.
Check out this year's programme which features over 30 walks across Milton Keynes.
