Walking Festival: Discover the Floodplain Forest Nature Reserve
Discover the history of this unique nature reserve and the surrounding area.
Discover this haven of peace and tranquility on the North Western edge of the city, a short walk of about three miles. As well as the Floodplain we'll be looking at the remains of Old Wolverton Medieval Village, taking in Wolverton Motte and Bailey Castle site and the route of the canal diversion that was put in place when the Iron Trunk Aquaduct collapsed in 1808.
The walk duration will be 60-90 minutes. Please note, Floodplain Forest has a number of steep slopes and the route will include some grass paths.
This event is part of our 2025 Walking Festival programme which features walks across the city over 5 days. If you have any questions about this event, please get in touch on events@theparkstrust.com.
