Walk & Talk: Willow, Wetlands and Waders
Join our Outdoor Learning team on a trip to the Floodplain Forest, where you will explore the reserve, spot birds from the wildlife hides and get to learn about some of the flora and fauna that lives in this vital habitat.
A haven for wetland birds, especially in Winter when a diverse range of wildfowl gathers on the lakes, this will be a great way for beginners to learn more about basic wetland bird identification, and for more intermediate or advanced bird watchers to spend a pleasant morning watching for wildlife accompanied by local bird experts.
This walk is suitable for adults and children over 12 years. All under 18's must be accompanied by a paying adult.
Floodplain Forest Nature Reserve has a number of steep slopes. The walk may include some grass paths as well as paved paths but the route can be adapted to avoid grass paths if required. The hides contain benches for visitors to sit on while watching for wildlife.
Accessible parking is available, and there is step-free access from the car park into the park. There are no toilets available at this site although customer toilets can be found in nearby pubs and supermarkets.
We would love to make these sessions enjoyable for all, so please do get in touch if you have any accessibility requirements. A hearing loop is available on request.
