Walk & Talk: Fruits, Roots and Seeds - An Introduction to Foraging
Foraging is becoming increasingly popular in the UK as people look for new ways to connect with the outdoors. This beginners' session offers an introduction to locating and harvesting food for free in our parkland spaces and will help to increase your confidence in identifying wild plants, berries and nuts, while also learning the best methods to help preserve food stocks for wildlife.
You will pick up hints and tips about nature’s secret larder and get inspiration on how to prepare certain wild foods, with the opportunity to discuss recipe and flavour ideas in the group.
Please note we will not be cooking in this session.
Caldecotte Lake is mostly flat with a few small slopes. We will use main paths for a proportion of the walk, but will also venture into the grassland to visit specific plants so please wear suitable footwear. The walk will be leisurely with plenty of stops to look at trees.
There are no public toilets available at this park although customer toilets can be found in the nearby pub. There is plenty of free accessible parking available.
We would love to make these sessions enjoyable for all, so please do get in touch if you have any accessibility requirements. A hearing loop is available on request.
