Come along to explore the site and find out about the footprint of the Bancroft Roman Villa. What were the rooms used for? Why did they build a villa there? What artifacts did archaeologists reveal?

We will also pop under the road to the site where a Temple Mausoleum was discovered.

This is mainly a talk with a short bit of walking, although there is an optional longer walk to the site of the Mausoleum. There is a medium slope down to the site and back up to the car park. The site is unlikely to be very muddy and we will mostly be on paths, but there will be grass where the villa is situated so please wear suitable footwear. The walk will take place outdoors and in most weathers so please dress appropriately. Suitable for adults and children aged 12 or over.

Bancroft Roman Villa is one of many heritage sites that The Parks Trust cares for. Check out our Heritage section to discover the history on your doorstep.
