We are thrilled to announce our 2023 Litter Poster Competition Winners

18 May 2023

We are excited to announce the two winners of this year's annual Litter Poster Competition designed to discourage littering in the city's greenspaces!

Our expert panel were blown away by this year’s student entries and had a tough time shortlisting a selection for the public to decide, but we’re delighted to announce the winners with their certificates and we are excited to see their posters displayed proudly across Milton Keynes' our park noticeboards:

Michelle Abiloa – KS1 winner from Saint Bernadette’s Catholic Primary School

Willow Wiseman – KS2 winner from Hanslope Primary School

Thanks to their hard work, they have also rewarded their schools with an Outdoor Learning session, as well as a set of handy litter pickers to help staff and pupils clear away any litter they come across.

Every year, we undertake around £400,000 worth of litter collecting and parks cleansing. We have joined forces with MK City Council's Waste and Recycling Team to run this annual competition and raise awareness of litter in the parks, coinciding with the Great British Spring Clean movement.

Sarah Griffiths, our Outdoor Learning and Interpretation Manager expressed:

“It’s always great to see how our creative young residents communicate such a vital message. They really care about the impact that litter has on the local environment and wildlife, and I can’t wait to see these new poster designs appearing across the city parks and outdoor spaces.”

If you are looking to make a difference in your local community, join us to combat litter at our Community Litter Picks or sign-up to host your own litter picks across Milton Keynes' parks. Our next destination will be at Kent Hills Park on Tuesday 30th May at 10am.
