Calling all Primary Schools! Enter the 2025 Litter Poster Competition

The Parks Trust are proud to launch the 2025 litter poster competition in partnership with Milton Keynes City Council. We are asking 5-11-year-olds who attend a Primary School in Milton Keynes to unleash their creativity and design a poster that encourages people to stop littering across the city.

The winning design will be displayed in the parks, in local parish council facilities and on social media. Winners will receive a set of 10 litter pickers for their school, and a free Outdoor Learning session with The Parks Trust if your school can accommodate it. The winning artist will also receive a goodie bag.

How to enter

Design a litter poster:

A4 size
Designs should be eye-catching and easy to understand
Include images and only a limited amount of text.
Please include one of these key messages on the poster

- Take your litter home to recycle
- If the bin is full, take your litter home
- Leave nothing but footprints

Submit your design online or by post:

Online: Scan or take a photo of your design and upload via the form below.
Post: Send your classes entries to the below address, stating the teachers contact name, email address and phone number

Top tips

Content of images – Think about the benefits of taking litter home and the problems litter causes
Colours – bright colours will attract more than black and white
Drawings – make sure they are clear. It is important that the images are your own and not traced from a book etc. You can use digital illustrations or photos but they must be your own.
If you are using text, think about your language – is it simple and short? Make sure it is easy to understand.

Entries must be submitted by the closing date of Friday 25th April at 5pm. Please read the competition terms and conditions before entering. All entries will be judged and the shortlisted finalists will go to a public vote on Tuesday 29th April to help us decide the overall winner.

General

The promoter of this competition is The Parks Trust (TPT) which is a registered charity (Charity No. 1007183) and whose registered address is Campbell Park Pavilion, 1300 Silbury Bvd, Milton Keynes MK9 4AD, UK.

All persons entering the competition shall be deemed to have accepted the rules set out in these terms and conditions. TPT reserves the right in its absolute discretion to exclude any entry from the competition if at any time it has reason to believe that the entrant has breached any of these rules.

The competition will open on Thursday 20th March at 9am 2025 (GMT) and will end Friday 25th April 2025 at 5pm (GMT). No liability will be accepted by TPT for illegible, incomplete or entries submitted late.

Entrants must be residents of the UK and attend a Primary School in Milton Keynes.

Entrants must ensure they have permission from their school or parent/ guardian to enter.

Any entries from children of individuals who work for The Parks Trust or Willen Lake.

The submission

All entries must be the original work of the entrant and must not infringe the Rights of any other party.

If uploading on to our website, the file size should not exceed 30MB.

By entering the competition all entrants grant to TPT the right to reproduce the entries for the below purposes, regardless of whether their entry is selected as the winner of the competition. No fees will be payable for any of the below uses. Entrants whose posters are one of the finalists also agree to take part in post-competition publicity.

- Judging the competition
- Inclusion within The Parks Trust’s marketing and promotional materials (including press packs, social media and website).
- The Parks Trust is entitled further to the above to reproduce and exhibit in all media prize-winning and commended entries, but only in connection with the promotion of the publicity for the competition and the Trust’s charitable work. TPT is entitled further to the above to reproduce and exhibit in all media prize-winning and commended entries.

The prize

There will be a minimum of one winner selected for this competition.

The winning school will also receive a set of 10 litter pickers for their class and the school will receive a free session in the park for up to 30 children. The free session must be redeemed within 12-months of winning the prize.

Prizes are non-transferrable, non-exchangeable and have no cash alternative.

Selecting a winner

All entries will be judged by a panel of judges. The judges will select a shortlist of semi-finalists winners which, in their opinion, best illustrate the theme of the competition and communicate the important messages around littering.

The semi-finalists entries will then be shared for public vote on www.theparkstrust.com from Tuesday 29th April 2025.

The public vote will close on Sunday 11th May 2025 and the winner will be announced via The Parks Trust’s website and social media channels w/c Monday 19th May 2025.

The shortlisted semi-finalists and the winner will be contacted via the contact details provided by a member of our Outdoor Learning team.

The winner will be able to arrange the delivery or collection of their litter pickers and arrange their school session directly with The Parks Trust.

The judges'/ voter’s decisions will be final, and no correspondence can be entered into.

Further Terms and Conditions

TPT reserves the right to cancel this competition or alter any of the rules at any stage, if deemed necessary in its opinion, and if circumstances arise outside of its control.

The entrant agrees that TPT shall have no liability for any losses, distress or inconvenience that any entrant may suffer as a result of such cancellation.

Only valid entries will be accepted; the entrant will be disqualified if any of the following apply:

- The entry contains racist, indecent content, sexism or inappropriate language.
- The entry condones or promotes antisocial or immoral behaviour.
- The entry could be considered offensive to another person based on their demographics including but not limited to age, gender or religion.

This competition is in no way endorsed by Facebook, X or any other social media network.

The promoter’s decision is final in respect of all matters to do with this prize draw and no correspondence will be entered into.

The prize draw and these terms and conditions will be governed by English law and any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England.
