Pétanque

Also known as Boule, Pétanque is a traditional game played across a large part of Europe, using steel balls on any sandy or gravelly surface.  One of the sport's big attractions is that players can compete on equal terms, whatever their age or physical ability.

Bancroft Pétanque Piste, which can be found near the Roman villa site at the top of the Loughton Valley, is provided by The Parks Trust, free of charge, for anyone who fancies trying this popular game.

Bancroft Park Pétanque Club plays on the piste on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 2pm and Sunday mornings at 11am.  Events and competitions are arranged throughout the year. For those wanting to come along and try the game, everyone is welcome at any of the playing sessions and the club will lend you some boule and offer some basic coaching for free. For more information about the club contact the club secretary by email on  bancroftparkpetanqueclub@gmail.com.

The Bancroft Pétanque Piste is located in North Loughton Valley Park.
