Discover Nordic Walking across Milton Keynes parks and turn your sociable walks into a full-body workout!
What is Nordic Walking?
Suitable for people of all ages Nordic Walking is a specific pole walking technique that harnesses the power of the upper body to turn walking into a workout!
The sport was originally developed by Cross Country skiers as a summer training routine. As part of our commitment to Health Walks in Milton Keynes we're delighted to offer our free Nordic Walking events as a great way to make friends, socialise, have fun, and increase your fitness!
Physical benefits include:
- Tones the upper and lower body at the same time
- Reduces the pressure on knees and joints
- Great for the heart and lungs
- Ideal for neck, shoulder and back problems
How do I take part?
As part of the MK Health Walks programme, there are two weekly Nordic Walking Groups. These volunteer led walks are normally about an hour long and are free to attend.
MK Nordic Strollers - Meet on a Thursday at 10:00 at various park locations
Nordic Striders - Meet on a Saturday at 11:00 at various park locations
What do I need to do first?
Walkers will need to have completed a basic introduction to Nordic Walking course. Currently these are only available with MK Nordic Walking. Emma and her team are professionally trained, first aid qualified and insured walk leaders promise to give you a very warm welcome.
Once completed you are free to attend either of our Nordic Walking groups.
Walkers should allow for the weather, and wear sensible clothing and footwear.
Walkers must follow the directions of the walk leaders at all times.
